Northern MI Paddle Q&A
Q: What's the drive time to Northern MI?
A: Roughly 8 hours with 2 quick breaks/fillups
Q: How will we get there?
A: TIOEX staff will drive all trips. We will have 2-3 cars for most trips, depending on trip headcount.
Q: What's the weather like in Northern MI in August?
A: It varies, but mostly sunny and 70s-80s. The water is usually pretty chilly though. I usually pack summer clothes along with a pair of jeans, a sweatshirt/sweater, and wool socks, just in case.
Q: Do we get our own rooms? Or do we have to share?
A: You will share bedrooms with a friend, or we'll bunk you up with an instructor if you're a single guest.
Q: What will our meals be like?
A: Your TIOEX staff will prepare home-cooked meals and snacks throughout the day. These meals may include options like casseroles, tapas, and family style kitchen and backyard dining.
Breakfast Options: Egg and cheese casseroles, waffles, breakfast muffins and fresh fruit...
Lunch and Dinners: Again, casseroles, as well as Florentine-stuffed Chicken breast w/ roasted potatoes, Blackened Tilapia w/ bacon-wrapped asparagus, Meatball bombs, local Parm-crusted whitefish, Penne Pesto, gourmet grilled cheese, Seasonal corn on the cob, Honey ham/Smoked gouda sliders, and lots of salad and greens.
We love to replicate those easy and delicious meals that we've all pinned to our food boards on Pinterest!
Q: Can I register as a single guest?
A: Absolutely! Let's get you out and about for some new experiences, and help you connect with people who are learning the same things. We'll take care of you.
Q: Will we have cell/wifi service?
A: Internet, yes. Despite our efforts to focus on being outside and disconnected, we also understand the need to stay in touch for work and emergencies. Cell service, yes, for the most part. There will be places where it may go in and out at the house or on the trails.
