What is Reiki?
The ki in Reiki can be thought similarly to what is known as Chi in Chinese, Prana in Sanskrit and Ti or Ki in Hawaiian, plus various other names in many different cultures. Reiki can be defined as ‘spiritually guided life energy’, with it’s own wisdom that guides itself without the direction of the practitioner. The practitioner’s purpose, through instruction and attunement, is to simply channel the healing energy through to the person receiving it, and does not direct the energy in any way, nor do they absorb or infuse any energy exchange.
A person receiving a Reiki treatment is fully clothed and can expect a gentle and nurturing space in time to truly relax and ‘let go’. Reiki feels like a warm & gentle sunshine that flows through you, surrounds you and comforts you. A treatment is an effective alternative, and or complement to, massage therapy. Nothing is expected of you. You may feel relaxed, fall asleep or you may want to chat or ask questions. You may just feel the permission to be without time or construct, and truly rest yourself within your body.
There is no belief or dogma attached to Reiki, and the energy does not interfere with any religious or spiritual paths or beliefs. Reiki restores energy balance and vitality by relieving the physical and emotional effects of unreleased stress. It gently and effectively opens blocked meridians, nadas and chakras, and clears the energy bodies, leaving one feeling relaxed and at peace.
